photo date: October 2004remembering:
somewhere on the same trip, from PA back to NY. I know exactly where we were. On the field next to the family restaurant we stopped at right before heading into NY. We let the dogs out to run and do their thing and to breathe, take the m0ment, to live in the present, and remember that it all somehow, made sense. We walked into Fred's Family Restaurant, after leaving the Midwest bible belt country at the out come of the election of 2004. Believing in
"19 Miles To Baghdad" we handed it out freely, where ever we were, where ever we went.
This moment we walked into the local family restaurant, and everyone sitting was wearing
camouflage, strips or a lieutenants hat. It was so surreal. A captive audience, a mission but
so un-intentional it made us shy. We spoke to a few of the soldiers outside and gave them the CD to share with their friends. This was a moment in time where I knew I was exactly were I was meant to be and everything happens for a reason...

This picture flows well. The eye goes to the CD, held forward, but then can't help but go to Lizzie's face--in another plain, with the wonderful highlights in her hair. It's funny how taking a journey of rememberance can remind us of the point of the journey, and reinforce the reasons, that we may have forgotten in the daily hustle and bustle of life, that we're on the journey in the first place--it encourages re-dedication.
